How to cover your CD
62Keeping your CDs and DVDs safe is a very important thing. It may not seem like it, but what if your very important computer backup disc was beat up so bad that any computer could not read it? Everything would be gone; keeping CD/DVD-ROMs in a safe place isn’t something to set aside. Right now we will show you how to create a CD cover. There are several ways to keep discs safe, and in style.
Choise 1 - CD Case
If you already have cases and they’re blank, use Label Maker to create a front design for your case.
Choise 2 - CD Label
Protecting the front of the disc is something many people forget; it’s not all about the bottom of the disc to keep safe. Label Creator will easily make a stick-on CD/DVD label to protect your disc and look good at the same time!
Choise 3 - DVD Case
Large DVD cases shouldn’t be left out…We have designs for those too! It’s simple, all you need to do is open up the cover design software, add titles and descriptions, select a design, go through every other feature and create a Cover for DVD case.
Choise 4 - CD Sleeve
Another way to keep your CD/DVDs safe is by using CD sleeves! They’re cheap, sold practically everywhere and do the job they’re meant to do! Using the CD label making software, you can create these cost-free! Save yourself a trip to the store, make it look nice with designs and titles, print it off yourself.
Choise 5 - Origami CD Case
Lastly, origami covers are the way to go. If you want your discs in a stylish and cool case, you can make your own out of a sheet of paper! See a video on how to make your origami CD/DVD sleeve!
Or use the following steps below:
1. Get your 8”x11” sheet of paper ready and fold the left and right sides inside about 1 inch.
2. Fold the bottom side up about 2 inches.
3. Fold the small top corners down, and then fold the top side down.
4. Lastly, insert the top side into the bottom side.
Congratulations, your own CD cover is ready!
Summary
Anyone can do this by themselves, but with a little extra work. There are many different types of software that can create designs like this for you, but one of the best products is RonyaSoft CD/DVD Labeler. It is definitely useful tool to create all this types of labels and covers and to protect them.

I have the diagrams for a modified version of this origami CD case (Tom Hull's design). From my own usage experience, my design (http://www.mostlymaths.net/2009/05/how-to-do-easy- is sturdier, specially with closing and opening the case. But yours is quicker to do, thus a balance is needed here.
Btw, for a really stronger version, use some flexible plastic sheet, which will hold your CD like never before!
I hope you find it useful, or at least interesting.
